How to Add Static FBML to Your Facebook Fan Page

FBML stands for Facebook Markup Language. FBML is Facebooks version of HTML and enables you to include social content inline in your markup. FBML enables you to add creativity to applications, games, and fan pages. When you go on Facebook you usually see a white background. The first time I saw a facebook fan page with a FBML landing page, I was amazed that I was looking at a picture with color instead of the usual routined white background. Draw in potential clients with a custom facebook landing page. In order to do this you need to install  the FBML application.This is a step by step tutorial on how to add FBML so you can start customizing.



1.     1.  Log into your facebook and type FBML in the search field located at the top of your screen. Click on the result in the drop down menu that says Static FBML. This will take you to the FBML application page.


2. Click on "Add to my Page" located underneath the empty profile picture. A box will pop up listing all the fan pages that you administer. Choose the page that you wish to add FBML to and click "Add to Page".




3. Close the Add FBML window and go to your fan page. On your fan page click on "Edit Page" located on the top right hand corner.



4. On the left hand side of the screen click on the option "Apps". You will see a list of applications that are added to your page. Located the FBML Application and click "Go to App".


5. You are now at the edit FBML page. Select and imput a title and then paste your template code. Click save.


6. After saving your code, click on edit next to the name of your page in the upper left hand corner. In the "Manage Permissions" options locate "Default Landing Tab". The default landing tab is the page that visitors will first see when they go to your page. Be sure to change the default landing tab to the  FBML page you just created. Save your  changes and then view your page. If you altered and imput your code correctly you should see your landing page. If you dont see your landing page go back to the Edit FBML page and edit your code. Keep editing your code until you see your landing page.
